NIKA SOLCE is an equally remarkable composer and singer from Slovenia. She has absorbed all the influences that she was exposed to from a very early age, and invented her own distinctive musical vocabulary. She has performed with musicians from across the world and embraced the synthesis of sound with soul. Gypsy brass band, Balkan wild rhythms, spiritual songs from India – Nika has expressed herself with equal alacrity wherever she has found a platform. But her biggest influence has always been folk music from the Balkan states, as well as from other countries and cultures. She has a flair for composing her own tunes and combining them with music from other parts of the world.
Nika is also a puppeteer. She grew up in the family of internationally recognised puppeteers. At the age of six years she already performed at puppet shows and travelled with her parents the international festivals. Later on she joined various puppet groups.
Now she is playing her own puppetshows on festivals, theatres, schools, kindergardens...
In her shows Nika pairs her two worlds, puppetry and music.
